Toby Bishop

Managing Partner

Toby is the Managing Partner for New York Life's award winning Minnesota General Office. As Managing Partner he oversees the operation and activities, with over 100 agents throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Toby started his career with New York Life as an agent in the Central California General Office in 1991. He was promoted to Training Supervisor in 1995, and a Partner in 2001. In October of 2006, Toby became the Managing Partner for New York Life in North Dakota and promoted to the Minnesota General Office in 2010.

The office has an incredible tradition of success with 40 agents with over 20 years of experience, and with the current management structure in place, the office is primed to have an increase never achieved in the past. “The opportunities for management have never been better.” Toby is looking to promote additional partners in the next 3 years. “For individuals looking for a career in developing others in a team environment, there is no better path.” Toby is passionate about helping candidates achieve that level of success when the individual has the skill sets to match the opportunity.

Toby is a graduate of California State University, Fresno with a degree in Business Finance. He is married to Kristi and they reside in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. They have three children, Lindsey, Jordan and Nathan.

Chad Rusten joined New York Life in 2014 as a Partner after spending 10 years with Thrivent Financial where he was a Regional Vice President of Insurance Products and most recently a Partner leading the Northwest Twin Cities. Chad has a degree in Financial Management from the University of North Dakota and is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), Chartered Advisor for Senior Living (CASL) and Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC). Chad's passion is making a positive difference in the lives of others and this role allows him to do just that.

Chad and his wife Nattalie currently live in Minnetonka with their two children, Ava and Quinn.

Scott Kottke, CLF®

Partner

Scott Kottke current serves as a partner and brought a vast amount of financial services experience with him when he came to New York Life in 2016. After graduating from the University of North Dakota with a degree in Finance in 1998, he started his successful financial services career as an advisor. First, as a Stock Broker with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, and then as an Investment Specialist with TCF Bank. While at TCF Investments he was named the #1 Investment Specialist in Minnesota in 2005. In 2006, Scott left TCF to pursue a career on the management side of the industry with Thrivent Financial. As a manager, one of Scott's strengths is his ability to coach new advisors on client acquisition strategies; in 2012 he finished as the #1 Partner in the country for new client growth. After spending 10 years at Thrivent Financial, Scott joined New York Life to help build out the Northwest Metro and Central Minnesota regions.

Corrie Haux

Senior Sales Development Manager

Corrie is married to Michelle and they have two wonderful children, Alayna and Gregory. Corrie started his career with New York Life in July of 2000 as an agent after working the previous five years in the field of charitable giving. As an agent he achieved Executive Council during his second year which opened the door to management with New York Life. Corrie has been the Sales Development Manager since 2002 and is responsible for training of our new agents and for facilitating advanced business and estate planning for our General Office. In addition to his duties here in the Minnesota General Office, he is one of a handful of development managers in our Company that has been selected to teach annually at our national training center in Dallas, TX for our Career Development Conferences.

Mark Copier

Senior Agency Standards Consultant

Mark Copier started with New York Life in 2012 as an agent out of the Inland Empire General Office in Riverside, California. Prior to New York Life, Mark served in sales and management positions in the mining, manufacturing, and building materials industries. He has a Bachelor's in Business Management from Utah Valley University, and an MBA from University of Phoenix. Mark and his wife, Kristi, have four children; Ashley (9), Tyler (6), Olivia (3), and Hannah (1). Growing up in Utah, most of Mark's youth was spent enjoying the great outdoors from the back of his horses. Riding and training horses is a hobby he still enjoys as often as he can. He is extremely excited to be joining the Minnesota General Office family as an ASC.

Michael Cheslek

Administrative Manager

Michael was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI where he later attended Ferris State University and earned his Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with minors in Mathematics and Science. He worked as a middle school math and science teacher for eight years in Raleigh, North Carolina. In 2013 Michael moved to Albuquerque, NM to begin his career with New York Life as an Associate Administrative Manager. Upon completion of his training in 2014, he transitioned into the Administrative Manager role in the Minnesota General Office.
